In 2018, 35 years after the release of the original DW-5000C model, the GMW-B5000D was released, featuring a full-metal construction and a Connected Engine, based on the concepts of “evolved exterior, structure, and module.” This full-metal construction is based on the DW-5000, the origin of G-SHOCK. The bezel and band are made of durable stainless steel. The hollow structure, a core G-SHOCK technology, has been redesigned to evolve the shock-resistant design. A fine resin buffer has been sandwiched between the metal bezel and the main case, creating a new shock-resistant design that can withstand even a full-metal case. The band attachment point, which is most susceptible to impact, has been improved by establishing a relay point in the center of the center case, reducing impact on the band attachment pipe. The watch also features a solid screw-back case with a highly wear-resistant DLC coating on the back cover. The watch also features a film solar cell and an STN-LCD (liquid crystal display) that makes the time display easy to read, even from an angle, for improved visibility. The face design, paying homage to the original model, is meticulously crafted from the dial to the main display layout, resulting in a design reminiscent of the original model. It also features a state-of-the-art engine while maintaining its size thanks to high-density mounting technology. The GMWB5000D, a full-metal design that inherits the refined design and features an evolved exterior and module, promises even greater potential for G-SHOCK. Functionally, it pursues precise timekeeping, featuring Bluetooth communication and Multiband 6, which supports time calibration signals from six stations worldwide. By connecting with the dedicated G-SHOCK Connected*1 app, accurate time information can be obtained from an online time server. In areas where one of six time calibration signals is available, the watch features a radio wave reception function that automatically adjusts the time and maintains accurate time. Casio’s proprietary power-saving technology enables Tough Solar power for stable operation, while other practical features include a high-brightness full-auto LED backlight and World Time. It also supports localization, allowing for day of the week display in six languages*2. This watch represents a legitimate evolution in pursuit of global basics, ensuring accurate timekeeping anywhere in the world.
