The GMW-B5000 series retains the design of the original G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, released in 1983, while incorporating advanced features like smartphone linking. The full-metal case is made possible by a shock-resistant construction featuring a fine resin buffer sandwiched between the stainless steel metal bezel and the main case. High-density mounting technology maintains the size. The heavy-duty screw-back case features a DLC coating for excellent wear resistance. The metal band pieces feature a dimpled finish, inheriting the resin band design of the original model. It features a film solar cell and an STN-LCD (liquid crystal display). The face features a vibrant green glass vapor deposition with textured printing. Functionality includes Bluetooth® connectivity to the dedicated app for accurate timekeeping. Other practical features include a time correction system using standard radio waves (Multiband 6), stable operation with Tough Solar, a high-brightness full auto LED backlight, world time, and a six-language day display. This G-SHOCK, while retaining its roots, is now even more refined with a full metal construction.
