In 2018, 35 years after the release of the original DW-5000C model, the GMW-B5000 was released, featuring a full-metal case and a Connected Engine, based on the concepts of “evolved exterior,” “evolved structure,” and “evolved module.” The bezel is made of hard stainless steel, achieving a full-metal case. The hollow structure, a core G-SHOCK technology, has been redesigned to evolve the shock-resistant design. A fine resin buffer is sandwiched between the metal bezel and the main case, creating a new shock-resistant design that can withstand even a full-metal case. The band attachment point, where it is most exposed to impact, uses highly impact-resistant TROGAMID to reduce impact on the band attachment pipe. The band is made of soft urethane material for an improved fit. The watch also features a solid screw-back case with a highly wear-resistant DLC coating on the back cover. The watch’s clear visibility is enhanced with a film solar cell and an STN-LCD (liquid crystal display) that makes the time display easy to read, even from an angle. The face design, from the dial to the main display layout, features a cool inverted LCD for a stylish finish. High-density mounting technology maintains the watch’s compact size while incorporating the latest engine. The watch maintains its refined design while evolving the exterior and module. In terms of functionality, it pursues precise timekeeping, featuring Bluetooth communication and Multiband 6, which supports time calibration signals from six stations around the world. By connecting with the dedicated G-SHOCK Connected*1 app, the watch obtains accurate time information from an online time server. In areas where one of six time calibration signals is available, the watch features a radio wave reception function that automatically adjusts the time and maintains accurate time. Casio’s proprietary power-saving technology ensures stable operation, while the watch also boasts practical features such as a high-brightness full-auto LED backlight and World Time. It also supports six language day display*2 and localization. This watch represents a legitimate evolution in pursuit of global basics, displaying accurate time anywhere in the world. While maintaining the concept inherited from the original, the GMW-B5000 boasts refined exteriors, structure, and modules for superior timekeeping quality, complete with a full metal case.
